My Dad is a master gunsmith in every sense of the word. He is a brilliant historian and an expert in the specific field of 19th century rifles from the Bedford County, Pennsylvania region. Growing up in Bedford, Dad found a passion for American History at a young age, which eventually lead him to study the rifle building techniques of early craftsmen. In 1976, Dad built his first gun, subsequently embarking on a hobby which he enthusiastically enjoys to this day. Every gun he builds is done completely by hand, and takes hundreds of hours each. His brilliant artistry is showcased in everything from the first step of choosing the perfect piece of wood, to the patience of letting it dry for years, to the intricate, one-of-a-kind silver scrimshaw designs. His carving and engraving are second to none, and though each piece could merely be a showpiece, Dad honors the artists who came before him by assuring each firearm works as the hunters of days gone by would need them in order to provide for their families.
